I'm looking forward to taking this journey with you all . . . my church family. For our Divine Experiment, us Dodzweits are cutting out TV and digital entertainment for 21 days. Why? Because it is a substitute for true relationship and connection. If I ever lost a child, I would have huge regrets about the time I wasted watching TV or playing a game on my phone. I know it is not going to be easy and no one relishes the post-work day TV more than I do but I believe that my heart and my family will be better for it. Instead, we will do a family devotional and play some board games. If we (Dodzweits) make this sacrifice . . . Will He (God) bring a new level of unity and love to our family so we can love Him more? Looking forward to finding out.

So me and my family are still discussing but way excited for what God is going to do during these 21 days!

So the decision has been made and we too are taking the plunge and losing the TV for 21 days. On top of that my wife is giving up coffee for 21 days (pray for me!) and I will be giving up sugar and bread (pray for my wife). I can't wait to see what God does in my life! Looking forward to this journey with all of you!

I'm a college student so naturally Facebook takes up about 1/3 of my days. The first thing I heard God ask me to give up was the big FB so tata status updates and notifications, you will be missed but my finals grades will be happy and more importantly so will my God.

The Holcombs are still in the process of deciding what to do for the next 21 days. The no TV, etc is very challenging and we're thinking thats the route to go...but we'll let you know. Its been a bit difficult because one of us attended the service this morning and the other one didn't (John had a family reunion)....so at this point, we're just trying to both get on the same page :)

The Harvey's were considering which way to go... The no TV of course, was on the table, but we were also considering fasting any type of convenience food/drink purchases. Since we couldn' t make up our minds, we've decided to do a bit of both... Each family member can choose one tv show per week to watch and there will be no eating out, no (ikes) StarBucks, Circle K or Publix Chicken - for 21 days. We will do our Church devotion and a family Bible study each evening... probably starting with the verse (sorry - don't know the address) I will not sacrifice to the Lord something that costs me nothing - paraphrased! We're looking forward to seeing how God reveals himself to us in this manner. I know that He will. Tim and I continually told our first batch of kids that when they honor God, He honors them. We saw it too many times to count. Subrina has seen it too in her life. I'm believing that God will reveal Himself to us in unique and tangible ways over the next 21 days - especially to Gaige. I'm hoping that it is manifested in his little spirit by deep trust that will lead to self discipline, obedience and respect for those in authority over him. Please pray especially for Gaige as I know we are going to have a break through with him and his control issues that stem from his very tumultuous beginnings.

Ok so, I knew right away a few things that have been eating my family down. I'm giving up all itouch gaming as well as facebook. But an even bigger one for me is Mcdonalds breakfast! This will be a huge challenge! My oldest son is reluctantly giving up all gaming, he's already begun a slight melt down but I will remain strong. Pray for me, lol. My daughter is giving up facebook and junk food. My husbands been working all day so I haven't gotten the chance to talk to him about it. I'm hoping he will choose no wine! We will see. I am excited to start something new for my family and hopefully it's just the begining of a healthier physical and spiritual life for us.

I, Beth Mazzei, make a commitment to God & my family at Grow Life Church for the next 21 days to make the following changes in my daily life: 1) At least 1 hour appointment with God daily – ½ hour reading Bible & ½ hour listening for God’s voice. 2) Walk daily for exercise. 3) No drinking with meals – I confess I’ve been cheating with my lab band by drinking with my meals in order to eat more food. I'm excited to see what God has in store for me during the next 21 days!

I am so excited that we are doing this. I just love a good spiritual cleanse! I've decided to give up the chains of Facebook for 21 days and instead put feet to my faith. After Pastor James' message on burdens a few weeks ago, I have been praying about a certain ministry to women and how to start it. Well, last night I started a blog and I am going to put my time and effort into praying about and working on this. I am excited. My husband and I, although he is traveling, are going to do over-the-phone devotionals and then study the topic of the devotional further in the Bible. This is great! I am excited to see what HE WILL DO!

I’ve decided to give the Lord at least 10% of my day … 2 1/2 to 3 hrs. What ever that means giving up for Him to have my attention … so be it. Lord Bless!

I was not in service yesterday, but when Chad explained the “experiment” to me I was eager to participate. Chad decided very quickly that giving up t.v. was the direction he needed to go. After praying about it I realized that I spend most of my nights unwinding from my day which includes…watching t.v, reading, even straightening the house, etc. So I have decided that when the kids go to bed God gets my undivided attention. This will give me several hours of time spent with Him. Chad and I are looking forward to our devotional time together and participating together with our church family. Chad & April Emory

The Hudson's are giving up TV for 21 days. I finally figured out what we were suppose to give up after struggling with it for two days. I figured if I was trying every which way NOT to give up TV then TV was my answer! So far so good, I won two games of UNO tonight. We have made one concession we plan to watch Biggest Loser on Tuesday nights, then last night Sadie said "I feel like we're cheating". I thought Gatton would revolt but he said he thought we should give up TV too because it was what he didn't want to give up the most. We have been doing the devotional together as well.

I visited your church on the first day of the experiment. I was with my daughter Dawn Chiacchio and the grandchildren. I was very blessed by the praise and worship and the message. Since I am on the other side of the state I cannot attend regularly but I did decide to support Dawn and the kids in the experiment. I have been trying without success to lose weight, my addiction being sweets. So I thought why not give it a try so I am now on day 18 of no sweets and the Lord has blessed me with a weight loss of 9lbs so far. I am amazed that it has not been hard at all. Being that my body it a temple of the Holy Spirit I should have known HE would have helped me if I had asked HIM and really made an effort. Thank you for your message, for the experiment and for welcoming my daughter and her family into your church family. I know they feel loved there and are being nurtured.
